Executive Director
David L. Goldwyn has nearly 15 years
of international business, legal, diplomatic, and foreign affairs
experience operating at and with the highest levels of the White House,
State Department, National Security Council, National Economic Council,
Commerce, Defense, Export Credit, and Trade and Development agencies.
He has international law experience in mergers, joint ventures,
acquisitions, financings, and dispute resolution. He has served
the US government in the Office of the Under Secretary for Political
Affairs at the State Department under Presidents George H.W. Bush and
Clinton, acting as Chief of Staff from 1993-1997. He has also served as
Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs, Counselor to
the Secretary of Energy, and national security deputy to Ambassador Bill
Richardson, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations under
President Bill Clinton. In both Energy and State, he acquired senior
commercial diplomatic experience.
Association Chairman
David L. Mack is Vice President of
the Middle East Institute. He served the US government as Deputy
Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs (1990-1993) and
served in Tripoli early in his diplomatic career. As a Deputy assistant
secretary he directed the conduct of relations between the United States
and 12 other governments, including Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
He provided political support for Operations Desert Shield and Desert
Storm and promoted U.S. business interests in the Arab world. Ambassador
Mack served as foreign policy advisor to Commerce Secretary Brown on his
first trip to Saudi Arabia. As U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab
Emirates (1986-1989), he was in charge of all U.S. government activities
and over 150 civilian and military personnel. He was also responsible
for diplomatic contacts with the leaders of the U.A.E., a country of
strategic and commercial importance to the United States. His subjects
ranged from hostilities with Iran to billions of dollars in economic
contracts to cultural exchange. Ambassador Mack specializes in the
Middle East, North Africa, Islam, and U.S. foreign policy. His
diplomatic assignments have included Libya, Iraq, Jerusalem, Jordan,
Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Operational Staff
Jamie O’Mealia graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a Concentration in Culture and Politics. Before joining the US-Libya Business Association, Jamie interned in the geopolitical analysis division of Stratfor, a private intelligence company. Jamie is proficient in French and Spanish and is currently improving his conversational Arabic at the Middle East Institute.
Sheila M. Moynihan
has studied at the London School of Economics and recently graduated magna cum laude from
Villanova University with a Political Science Major, Economics Minor and
Russian Area Studies Concentration. Prior to joining the GIS team,
Sheila worked at the United States Energy Association and interned at
the United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia. She is
proficient in Russian. |
