USLBA News New Passport Requirement for Entry into Libya The Libyan government recently reinstated a rule requiring the official translation of a foreigner’s biographic page from his/her passport into Arabic, even if the person has a valid visa. For a more information please see the announcement from the Libyan's People's Bureau in Washington, DC which includes a detailed description of the requirement and contact information for approved translators.
NEW MEMBERS USLBA would like to welcome Dow Chemical, Midrex Technologies, and ExxonMobil to the Association. Dow Chemical and Midrex Technologies joined at the General Member Level and ExxonMobil has joined at the Executive Advisory Level.

Molly Williamson, Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Energy (Members Only) January 25th 2005 In October and November, the USLBA hosted Assistant Secretary David Welch and other officials in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Ellen Germain, Acting Office Director of Maghreb Affairs, and Jennifer Gavito, Libya Desk Officer. They addressed the progress of the US-Libya rapprochement and the concerns of the US business community. Under Secretary of State Bob Joseph also met with the association in October. In September, the USLBA hosted Under Secretary for Industry and Security, Peter Lichtenbaum for a Policymaker Meeting.
The USLBA celebrated its official launch on September 22,2005 in New York City with honored guest Foreign Minister of Libya Abdel-Rahman Shalqam. The event was attended by Ambassador David Mack, USLBA Chairman, David Goldwyn, USLBA Executive Director, and business leaders from the oil, banking, infrastructure, insurance and legal industries.
